In 2016 I met Raven. A young woman, quiet and yet had an energy I needed, she was game to create. Fresh at the time to modeling I chose Raven to model to help me pull out some themed fashion ideas expressing her individuality as well. I placed Raven in a small series that had begun with another, but that young collaborator soon became unavailable. Aside from completing that project which didn't take too long we continued on working side by side and coming up with ideas to try. From what you see above Raven and I did an amazing body of photographs completed in our first session. The light was stunning, fucking beautiful actually. The location of the shoot was at West Island Beach in Fairhaven Ma. I am not exactly sure what time of the hour but this outcome made us realize we wanted more and as I said we continued on for a while. Raven is one of those women who knew how she wanted to be captured once you got going into the groove. We would always chat before any shoot we had in store and she threw out suggestions to make the shoot better, elaborate on the intent and such. I look back at times at the work we achieved together and feel really good that we met. A chapter like all and completed successfully.
I remember seeing her portfolio on one of the social media platforms. ModelMayhem is where I got a chance to see some of her beginning. It is also where I use to use that particular site constantly to seek out new faces to work with. Time speeds up and nowadays there is more than just that site and at times I feel left in the dust. I feel I just can't keep up and from where I began in 1998 it doesn't bother me much. There is a clear reason why we choose those we want to work with. They just grab you. Their way, behavior, smile, all the looks they express, and it is just amazing how every single human being has their own look. Style even and how it rests on their skin. Some make-up or bold or even subtle. No make-up even, every person to me has always been intriguing to look at, see walking by in passing. Mainly the answer I give all the time. Yes I am a Photographer, Yes I am that guy lol.
